Ellen DeGeneres recently opened up in an interview about her plans for the future. And one of the biggest changes she’s about to make is, end her popular daytime talk show. After 19 consecutive years, the daytime queen plans to end the Ellen DeGeneres Show in 2022.

Ellen extended her contract to run the show for three more years in 2018. Despite her wife, actress Portia de Rossi encouraging her not to, she continued with the 180-shows-a-year gig. But after more than 3,000 episodes and 2,400 celebrity interviews, DeGeneres is ready to step down.

Ellen DeGeneres will one more time lean on to one of the biggest television personalities to tell her truth – Oprah Winfrey. Oprah’s show, The Oprah Winfrey Show was where Ellen first came out as a lesbian. Even her TV character Ellen Morgan came out to Winfrey who played her therapist in the show The Ellen Show. So, it makes perfect sense that DeGeneres is set to appear in Oprah’s brand new talk show Super Soul.

The Controversies Surrounding The TV Show.

Variety

The year 2020 was a struggle for everyone in the world, but it hit Ellen DeGeneres a bit too hard. Despite being one of the most loved personalities in Hollywood, the comedian faced a great deal of backlash this past year.

A number of her past staff members (especially lower-level employees) accused Ellen and higher-position staff members of creating a toxic work environment. Despite being the happiest shows on TV, Ellen’s former employees claim that working there was no joy.

Some producers were accused of sexual harassment while plenty of other senior staff members were blamed for ill-treatment in the set and even during the pandemic. Ellen DeGeneres, despite having a rep for being the most generous, was called “one of the meanest people alive. Especially in the way she favors her staff and the way she mistreats most of them.

However, Ellen assures that it isn’t the reason for her saying goodbye to The Ellen DeGeneres Show. She has apologized for all the accusations and took full responsibility. And the controversy might have impacted her but she thinks the show isn’t challenging to her anymore.
