Long distance relationship isn’t some deadly commitment people get into. That making it to the end would ensure a place in heaven for you.

However, it’s a hard thing to go through, especially if you’re insecure.

But that doesn’t mean you can’t make long distance relationship work.

Despite your friends and families always nagging you about it, if you have enough faith in your relationship, you can actually make it through.

Of course, there are some important measures you need to take, and the steps you need to follow.

And if you can’t make it, you have to be able to tell yourself that it wasn’t worth it and move on.

Long distance relationships can be hard especially when you try too much or too less.

You can’t be in control of everything, and since its a two-way thing, you can always work together to make it things work.

Here is how you can make long distance relationship work.

Communicate.

It is obvious that communication is the key to make anything work and not just a long distance relationship.

And since you’re not physically near, communication is the only way to make it work.

Don’t stress out about what to and what not to tell your partner.

When you’re in a long distance relationship, it’s important that the two of you know what’s happening in each other’s life.

It’s important to know the people you’re surrounded with so it won’t be a problem in the future.

Fill each other with even the most boring things you do and make them feel like they belong.

Try keeping each other updated on things like work, friends, families, and anything that’s important to both of you.

Be that as it may, don’t overdo it.

There is a certain feeling you get when you get to talk to your partner. But talking 24/7 might make the long distance less interesting.

Try being creative with your conversations, argue when needed, but always make sure to squash it off before you put your phones down.

Prioritize your Schedules.

Sure, communication is the key to make long distance relationship work. But this might bring conflict between you and your significant other.

There are times when you’re too tired or too busy to talk.

Since you both live in a different timezone, it becomes hard to spend each minute talking to each other.

That is why it’s important for you to prioritize your schedules.

Knowing when one gets off of work or class when one sleeps and wakes up, it all plays an important role.

Don’t be harsh on each other if you can’t give enough time sometimes. It’s a part of life and busy schedule and you need to learn to accept it.

However, if they start avoiding you every day, it might be a problem.

Avoid “Dangerous” Situations.

There are times when you feel like hanging out with your buddies rather than spending time on the phone with bae.

Or maybe you’ve been invited by your boss and colleagues to go out drinking.

You forgot to tell your partner and went anyway hoping they’d understand.

It’d be great if they did, but if they really don’t, you need to either not do it at all or at least inform them beforehand.

Honesty is the best gift you can give your partner and when you’re live so far apart, it becomes more important.

Therefore, be honest and try to avoid “dangerous” situations that are sure to bring problems in the relationship.

Talk Dirty.

It’s basically no body’s business what you do online with your significant other.

Since sex is one of the important parts of a healthy relationship, it’s important you keep that heat alive.

That doesn’t mean you have to have phone-sex by any means.

There are always other ways you can turn up the heat in your relationship despite the distance.

You can tease each other by sending flirty messages filled with sexual innuendos. Sexting can also be a great way to make it fun and interesting for both parties.

Know your End Goals.

Before getting into a long distance relationship, ask yourself and your to-be partner what’s the end goal.

It’s important to be clear on what the two of you want in the future.

Whether you’re both serious and willing to spend the rest of your life together or whether it’s only a fling.

Knowing where your relationship is heading before hands makes long distance relationship easier.

You’ll know when to take things lightly and when to have a serious discussion over things.

This way, both of you steer clear from what you really want from life and each other.

Do Things Together.

As much fun as it could be doing things together being physically present, distance makes it hard.

However, that doesn’t mean you can’t add a little spark to your romance.

If not physically, you can always give each other company, virtually.

Video chat and cook together or read books, poems, and verses for one another.

You can also watch movies, go for walks, gossip, and even take long baths.

You can even set up a virtual date; light up candles, cook, dress up and have a date.

Even though you’re miles apart, it makes you feel like you’re together and less lonely.

You can exchange gifts and letters to each other and keep the romance alive.

Give Each Other Space.

As much as it is important to communicate with each other, it’s also important to give each other some space.

It’s always nice to know what’s your girlfriend/boyfriend is up to. But nagging constantly and never giving each other space might wreck your relationship.

Everyone needs some alone time to focus on themselves. And it’s important to make sure you let them breathe.

And along the way make sure to breathe yourself as well.

Trust.

How to Make Long Distance Relationship Work

Trust is the foundation of any relationship, whether long distance or short.

If you don’t trust your partner to speak the truth, you can’t expect them to do the same.

And when it comes to trust, it goes both ways. While you do need to trust your partner enough, they also need to make sure they don’t break it.

Nagging your partner about everything or making them sit there and talk to you is also not going to help.

What you need to do is set ground rules about what to do and what not to do.

You need to learn to give your relationship time in order to adjust to it.

And make sure you have faith in your long distance relationship.
