1. The Magicians

The Magicians is an American fantasy drama television series that airs on Syfy. The show is based on the novel of the same name by Lev Grossman. It follows the life of Quentin Coldwater, a student at Brakebills University who discovers that he has magical powers after finding Fillory, a secret land from the children’s novel ‘A Fillory and Further’. He soon realizes that he is not alone in his fantasy world, two other students possess magical powers like him too.

It follows the story of Elizabeth, Princess of Liones who vowed to find the Seven Deadly Sins to regain her lost kingdom. She is accompanied by Meliodas, captain of the group of knights, The Seven Deadly Sins. It’s one of the best shows for Harry Potter fans who want more magic in their life.

3. Little Witch Academia

Anime about a witch who attends a magic school. Let’s see, where have we heard this before? And no they don’t go to Hogwarts. Instead, our protagonist, Atsuko “Akko” Kagari, attends Luna Nova Magical Academy. Luna Nova Magical Academy is a school for young witches. She joins the school despite her non-magical background. And, she is inspired to be like a witch named Shiny Chariot.

A season (25 episodes) of Little Witch Academia (2017) is available. You can stream it on Netflix and Prime Video.

4. My Hero Academia (Boku No Hero Academia)

Harry Potter is mainly about Hogwarts and similar to Hogwarts is U.A. High School. Unlike Hogwarts, the students in U.A. are not wizards or witches. But they all have superpowers. And like Harry Potter, we follow the main character in My Hero Academia. It follows the journey of Izuku Midoriya (Deku). But a group of villains is trying to harm Midoriya’s mentor as he dreams of becoming the number one hero.

My Hero Academia (2016- present)  has 5 seasons. They are available to stream on Netflix.

5. The Hollow Crown

The Hollow Crown is an English adaptation of Shakespeare’s historical drama series, The Histories. Shakespeare’s history plays are serialized on the show, starting with the fall of Richard II and ending with Richard III’s violent death. We witness tense England during the Hundred Years War and the Wars of the Roses as we follow courtiers and kings. It is a two-part miniseries aired on the British television channel BBC Two in 2016. It’s got Harry Potter vibes but with less magic! Anyway, if you’re a fan of the Harry Potter series, then this miniseries is for you!

The Hollow Crown (2012-2016) miniseries has two seasons.

6. The Deep

The Deep is a two-part British miniseries based on the novel of the same name by Joanna Trollope. It airs on Prime Video and has been renewed for Season 2.

The series revolves around Miranda and her children who live under the sea in a colony called Fathom. The colony’s survival is in danger when her father’s estranged brother returns to Fathom with two nephews in tow. Miranda has to find a way to make peace between them before it is too late. If you love magic, this miniseries is for you!

7. A Discovery of Witches

A Discovery of Witches is an upcoming British-American historical fantasy drama television series that airs on Sky One. It’s based on the novel of the same name by Deborah Harkness, who will also be a producer of the series. The series revolves around Diana Bishop, a professor at Oxford University who discovers that she possesses magical powers after finding an enchanted manuscript in the Bodleian Library. She soon realizes that there are other witches and warlocks like her too. And they are all in danger.

4 Seasons (10 episodes each season) of A Discovery of Witches are available.
