Have you heard of the term “27 Club”? It’s not some fun and happening club. It is rather a really sad fact for a lot of music enthusiasts.

There are a lot of great artists who haven’t lived till 27 to see how they have been able to inspire the music community.

Some were even way younger than 27. Therefore, turning 27 in the music industry might be a curse a lot of times.

Most of the times, musicians who die have to do with either alcohol poisoning or drug overdose.

There are also ample cases of suicides in this area.

The fact that this happens is because of the lifestyle they choose.

Becoming a renowned musician brings in a lot of fame and popularity. And along with it comes the pressure to constantly keep up with it.

What us, the audience and the fans see is a life full of glitz and glamour. The money that comes with the work, constant traveling, partying, and living a lavish life.

However, what we fail to acknowledge is how dark and depressing that life can be.

They’re constantly away from their home and family. They also have to constantly put up with the critic and hate they receive.

It certainly becomes frustrating and drugs and alcohol are what they turn to for relief.

There are a lot of artists who left this earth way too early and young. Just in a span of a few years, these musicians were able to make a difference and influence thousands, if not millions.

Here are 8 great artists who died too young.

Jimi Hendrix.

Known as the greatest instrumentalist of all time, Jimi Hendrix made a name for himself in Rock and Roll music.

He was someone that revolutionized the use of the electric guitar with a distorted amp sound.

Before getting recognition in the United States, Jimi was already popular in Europe.

He is one of the musicians to join the “27 club” as he was found dead in London on September 18, 1970.

He died from asphyxiation by passing out after overdosing on drugs and alcohol.

Kurt Cobain.

Nirvana revolutionized grunge rock all over the world. And with the band gaining popularity, Kurt Cobain, the lead vocalist became an icon.

Till this date, people praise Cobain for his musical geniuses.

However, the music industry became still on April 5, 1994, as the news of Cobain’s death surfaced.

He struggled with depression and heroin addiction throughout his career. Thus, he committed suicide by shooting himself. It’s said that he pulled the trigger with his toe and shot himself.

He was another musician to die at the age of 27.

Tupac Shakur.

Tupac was one of the most loved and respected rappers of all time.

His lyricism as well as activism was something that sparked a lot of controversies over the years.

He represented the West Coast back in the ‘90s when there was a rap war between the West and the East Coast.

He was also an emerging actor who had done a number of films along with his music career.

But, his journey tragically ended on September 13, 1996. Pac was badly injured in a drive-by shooting in Las Vegas along with Suge Knight.

He died a few days later from his injuries at the age of 26.

While most people believe Pac faked his own death, his death is still a mystery till this date.

Amy Winehouse.

The jazz and soul songstress, Amy Whinehouse was popular for her dark lyrics and deep vocals.

She started her career at the age of 16 and gained massive popularity in the early 2000s.

However, it was very clear that Amy was deeply troubled. And despite numerous attempts to become clean, she was unable to do so.

Hence, on July 23, 2011, Amy Winehouse lost her life due to alcohol poisoning joining the “27 club”.

Janis Joplin.

The folk legend, Janis Joplin won millions of hearts for her music in the 60s. She was outspoken and as well as outrageous.

But the pressure of fame at an early age got her bad. She battled with substance abuse all her life.

And on October 4, 1970, Janis Joplin was found dead in her hotel room because of an accidental heroin overdose.

She was another artist to die at the age of 27.

The Notorious B.I.G.

Biggie is one of the most influential rappers of the ‘90s. He was loved for his rhymes and musicality. He was also an amazing freestyle artist.

Though he released only two albums before he died, he became one of the most important names in the history of rap music.

Biggie died a year later after Pac’s death on March 9, 1997. He was killed in a drive-by shooting in Los Angeles, California.

He was 24-years-old at the time of his death.

Mac Miller.

Mac Miller was one of the most underrated rappers in the industry. Despite coming out with amazing music throughout his career, he didn’t get as much recognition as he should have.

However, his popularity grew after he started dating Ariana Grande in the pop community.

Mac struggled with drug abuse and depression all his life. And after his break up with Grande, the situation got even worse.

Thus, on September 7, 2018, Mac Miller was found unresponsive in his own house.

He was pronounced dead due to an accidental overdose. Mac Miller was 26 when he died.

Aaliyah.

Aaliyah rose to fame at a very young age. She was selling records and stages by the time she was 16.

She also acted in a handful of films and was rumored to marry singer R. Kelly.

Aaliyah was known as the princess of hip-hop and redefined R&B music in the ‘90s.

However, on August 25, 2001, as she was returning back from the Bahamas after shooting a music video, her plane crashed.

And at just 22, the music industry lost a gem.
