Joshua Bassett, better known for his role on High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, made headlines in May with his hinted ‘Coming Out’ when he spoke effusively over Harry Styles during an interview with Clevver News.

The Disney star introduced the singer as a “very classy guy” who is a sweet, well-rounded man who knows a little bit of everything, including acting, music, and fashion.

“Who doesn’t think Harry Styles is cool?” Bassett adds, “Also, he’s hot, you know. He’s still very charming. I suppose this is also my coming-out video.”

Despite the fact that Basset didn’t exaggerate anything on his sexual identity after that, Twitter was flooded with tweets from fans who were stunned by such a spontaneous confession. As the mixed emotions swirled, Bassett posted a short video of himself performing an acoustic version of a song on Tuesday afternoon, along with a statement that expanded more on the subject.

He adds, “Love who you love shamelessly. It’s ok to still be figuring out who you are. Life’s too short to let ignorance and hatred win. I choose love.”

Who is Joshua Basset?

Joshua T. Bassett was born on December 22, 2000, in Oceanside, California, and is an actor, musician, and songwriter. Well known for his recurring role in Disney’s comedy series Stuck in the Middle and High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, the Disney universe recognized him as a rising star.

Basset says that performing has been a part of his life and that it began with him playing in the church band. When he was a kid, musical theatre drew him in easily. As he got older, he developed a strong fascination for both singing and acting. He attempted to make a profession out of his passion but was still uncertain about the reach of the industry.

A Love-Triangle Theory Before The Coming Out

Although there have been claims that Joshua Bassett and Olivia Rodrigo were together, the pair never explicitly confirmed their romance. According to fan speculations, Olivia’s ‘Driver License’ has everything to do with their love status.

Furthermore, Rodrigo’s break-up ballad, ‘Driver’s license,’ sparked a storm on TikTok, with fans theorizing that Bassett was again dating Sabrina Carpenter.

Such rumors, on the other hand, have been dismissed by Bassett. In March, he told BuzzFeed, “I get why people are talking about that stuff — but it doesn’t really get to me.”
