Olivia Rodrigo is a name that’s been on everyone’s mouth lately. Thanks to the overnight success of her debut single “Drivers License,” she is breaking global records day after day.

Olivia released “Drivers License” on January 8, and within just three days it became the most globally streamed song in a single day in Spotify with 15.17 million streams. The next day she broke her own record with over 17 million streams. And before you know it, “Drivers License” became the fasting song to reach 100 million streams.

Rodrigo became an overnight pop superstar after her single debuted on number one on both US and UK charts. And as of now, “Drivers License” has over 70 million views on YouTube.

However, she is so much more than just an overnight success. In fact, her success wasn’t overnight, to begin with.

Olivia Isabel Rodrigo is a Filipino-American actress and singer. She was born in Temecula, California, on February 20, 2003. Her father is of Filipino descent whereas her mother is of German and Irish lineage.

She started singing from an early age, When she was six, Rodrigo started taking singing and acting lessons.

She discovered her love for acting after her singing teacher encouraged her to go on auditions as she found her expressive. And after auditioning for many different parts, she finally landed her first main role on Disney’s Bizaardvark at the age of 12.

Before Bizaardvar, Olivia appeared in an Old Navy commercial. But she made her acting debut as the lead role Grace Thomas in 2015 with An American Girl: Grace Stirs Up Success.

In 2019, she landed another lead role and maybe one of the biggest roles of her acting career. She got to play Nini Salazar-Roberts on the reboot of High School Music, High School Musical: The Musical: The Series on Disney+.

High School Music gave Rodrigo an opportunity to showcase her singing ability along with acting. She wrote and performed the soundtrack of the show “All I Want.” She also co-wrote another song for the series “Just For A Moment,” with her co-star Joshua Bassett.

Music Career.

Along with “All I Want,” and “Just For A Moment,” Rodrigo also sang a few other songs from the High School Musical album. Music executives from different record companies recognized her talent after the show. Due to which on 2020, she went to sign a record deal with Interscope and Geffen Records.

Fast forward to 2021, 17-year-old Olivia Rodrigo has become a breakthrough artist thanks to “Drivers License”. She’s living a surreal life from getting praises by her idol Taylor Swift to exchanging texts with One Direction’s Niall Horan. She’s currently in Utah filming the second season of High School Musical. And only time will tell what the future holds for this overnight pop star.

Personal Life.

The minute “Drivers License” came out, fans started having their own theories of who the song is about. And all these theories have one name in common, Joshua Bassett. Rodrigo was supposedly in a relationship with her HSMTMTS co-star but they broke up in 2020. And fans point out that the song is about Joshua and his (alleged) current girlfriend, actress, and singer Sabrina Carpenter.

Olivia hasn’t confirmed or denied her past relationships, neither has she been seen with anyone else. As of now, she’s more focused on her elevating career rather than be stuck with boy-problems.
