From being an X-Factor contestant to making the entire world groove to her music, this is the life of Camila Cabello.
The Cuban born American singer, Camila (Karla Camila Cabello Estrabao) was born on March 3, 1997.
She gained popularity after competing in the American version of the singing reality show The X Factor.
She initially auditioned for the reality show but it wasn’t aired and was eliminated during the “boot camp”.
Cabello was later called back to join the stage along with four other contestants and together they formed a band Fifth Harmony.
Camila Cabello was born in Havana, Cuba (hence the chart-topping song Havana) to father Alejandro Cabello and mother Sinuhe Estrabao.
At the age of five, Camila and her family relocated to Miami, Florida after constantly moving back and forth between Havana and Mexico City (her father was a Mexican who moved to Cuba).
She became an American citizen in 2008 and attended Miami Palmetto High School.
However, she became a school dropout after dropping out of school in 9th grade to focus on her music career.
Before breaking out as a solo artist, Camila gained popularity by being in the band Fifth Harmony.
The all-girl band consisting of Ally Brooke, Normani, Lauren Jauregui, and Dinah Jane were all formed out of the contestants of The X Factor.
The band finished third on the second season of the singing reality show.
And they signed a joint contract with Simon Cowell’s record label Syco Records and L.A. Ried’s record label Epic Records.
In 2014, Fifth Harmony was invited at the White House to sing at the National Christmas Tree Lighting.
Fifth Harmony released their debut studio album titled Reflection on February 3, 2015.
The group received acclaims from the entire music industry for not just their album but also their EP Better Together, cover songs, and singles.
However, on December 18, 2016, the 22-year-old singer officially drifted apart from Fifth Harmony.
And the question remained, “why did Camila Cabello leave Fifth Harmony?”
The answer came clean after the song “Love Incredible” leaked online on January 25, 2017. And it was confirmed that she’s been working on her solo projects.
Cabello started making her mark on music even after receiving backlash for leaving Fifth Harmony.
By appearing on songs like “Hey Ma” from The Fate of the Furious soundtrack with Pitbull and J Balvin to collaborating with artists like Travis Scott, Shawn Mendes, and Major Lazer.
Cabello announced on May she’d be releasing her first studio album and in just a matter of days she released her debut solo single “Crying in the Club”.
She released her debut studio album Camila in 2018 that debuted at number one of the Billboard 200 chart.
It’s lead single “Havana” reached the top of the chart in several countries like Canada, The United Kingdom, Australia, and the United States.
She was nominated for two Grammys at the 61st Annual Grammys.
As she rose to fame, people started linking her to different people speculating relationship rumors.
She dated Matthew Hussey a dating coach and writer for more than a year.
The relationship came to an end in June 2019.
Immediately Camila was rumored to be dating former One Direction band member Louis Tomlinson.
They were spotted leaving a club at the same time sparking dating rumors and the trending of hashtag #CongratulationsLouisAndCamila.
But neither of the parties involved have ever made any comments regarding the rumors.
She also dated singer Austin Mahone in 2014 with whom she went on tour as a supporting act along with singer Shawn Mendes.
Which brings us to the next “rumor” that’s been flying around.
The two longtime friends and collaborator have been sparking dating rumors for a while now, in fact, it’s been five years.
They’ve been flirt-posting and teasing each other ever since the two of them started out in the industry.
The rumors started even back when they both toured with Austin Mahone. They’ve both commented and agreed on their fans telling them that they look good together on many occasions.
For years they’ve been denying the dating rumors either squashing it off by joking about it or calling each other “just really close friends”.
While the rumors never stopped, the doubtful couple has decided to add more fuel to the fire recently.
They’ve been spotted together in many different places together. Like spending the Fourth of July together, showing up at each other’s concerts and going on dates on several occasions.
They’ve been showing a lot of PDA on many different occasions as well.
Only time will tell whether Camila Cabello and Shawn Mendes are officially a couple. But for now, we can’t wait to see her play Cinderella in an upcoming film adaptation directed by Kay Cannon for Sony Pictures.
