The Chancellor of the Exchequer, Rishi Sunak, came on TV yesterday to request donations from the public. He spoke in a video recorded at his own home in Downing Street, London. Sunak’s also worked as an analyst for the bank Goldman Sachs from 2001-2004. Rishi Sunak’s net worth is in Millions of pounds that he shares along with his wife.

Rishi married the daughter of India’s renowned billionaire Narayan Murthy, the co-founder of Infosys. Sunak and his wife Akshata Murthy met while completing an MBA from one of the most renowned universities. They both grew up with families who could provide them with all their wants but also gave them a humble upbringing.

Rishi Sunak’s childhood and education:

Rishi Sunak was born on the 12th of May 1980 in Southampton, Hampshire as the first son to his parents. His grandparents had emigrated from Punjab to Africa and later to the UK in the 1960s. Both of Sunak’s parents were from a medical background. His father Yashvir was a general practitioner and his mother was a pharmacist.

However, he was a very good student there and worked hard to earn the title of the school head boy. After graduating from Oxford, he worked for Goldman Sachs for 4 years as an analyst. He decided to get a post-graduate degree in business. Following his graduation from Stanford, he worked for a hedge fund management firm called The Children’s Investment Fund Management.

In November 2009, he left his previous job to start a new firm along with his friends. They opened a new hedge fund firm called Theleme Partners. Apart from this he also was the director at his father in law’s investment firm Catamaran Ventures.

Sunak’s Political Career:

Rishi initiated his political career after taking over the role of Conservative candidate for Richmond (Yorks) in October of 2014. At the same time, he also co-wrote a report on BME communities in the UK.

The following year he was elected with a majority as a member of parliament in the 2015 General Elections. Rishi Sunak learned to give back to the society from his parents. This was an opportunity for him to make a difference as his parents did. During his office, he was a member of the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Select Committee.

He was pro-Brexit and supported the UK leaving the European Union. In order to support his choice, he also wrote a report on the post-Brexit retail bond market.

After being re-elected as MP with the majority vote again in 2017, he supported Borris Johnson in the 2019 conservative party re-election. Similarly, Rishi Sunak was re-elected in 2019 with 47% majority vote and continued supporting the conservative party. Soon after that, he was appointed as Chief Secretary to the Treasury by prime minister Borris Johnson.

During the Cabinet reshuffle of February 2020, he was promoted to the role of Chancellor of the Exchequer after Sajid Javid resigned from the post.

As a Hindu, in 2017 took his oath at the House of Commons on the Bhagavad Gita.

The pair decided to get their blessings in India where Akshata had grown up. The couple tied the not together in The Ballroom, Leela Palace Hotel, Old Airport Road, Bangalore. The wedding was elegant and simple yet lavish.

Soon after they got married they gave birth to two beautiful daughters. They gave Indian names to their lovely daughters. They named the older one Krishna and the younger one Anoushka.
