Merab Dvalishvili’s outstanding win over John Dodson at UFC 252 has now extended his winning streak to five in a row. Known as “The Machine,” Merab knocked out John Dodson in three rounds on Saturday. The Ultimate Fighting Championship’s bantamweight performer won by a unanimous decision with scores of 30-27.
Stats hardly mattered
Given the dominant performance, Dvalishvili could only convert two out of 20 attempts made to takedown Dodson. By the end of the bout, the stats barely mattered, as Dodson clearly could not endure the constant blows from Dvalishvili.
Dodson stood at No 12 and Merab at No 15 in the UFC bantamweight ranking.
Knocked out in three rounds
The 1st round saw nothing significant as both the fighters warmed up without throwing anything significant. As the fight proceeded, Merab somehow gained the upper hand.

Dvalishvili locking the waist and spending a reasonable amount of time holding Dodson against the fence was the only notable incident that gave the benefit of the doubt to Merab, declaring him as the winner of the 1st round.
Continuing the momentum, Davalishvili returned aggressively in the second round, applying the early pressure on Dodson.

Dodson showed more urgency in the final frame. He got an inside leg kick and hard left hand in in the final round. Despite Dodson’s gravity, Merab was a man possessed until the end.
Davalishvili’s takedown attempts had remained consistent from round one. Ultimately the performance giving him the biggest win of his career.
