Prior to this, MacKenzie is also an author and published her debut novel titled The Testing of Luther Albright. For her publication, she received an American Book Award in 2006. Apart from these works, she supported the works of her former husband, Jeff. Moreover, she published her second novel, Traps in 2013. During an interview with Charlie Rose, MacKenzie explained the theme of her second book saying:

Reason For Divorce: Settlement

The president of Amazon, Jeff Bezos went to his Twitter and announced his intent to divorce with MacKenzie in January 2019. The tweet read:

After a period of loving exploration and trial separation, we have decided to divorce and continue our shared lives as friends.

Here Mr. Bezos explained the reason for their divorce citing “irreconcilable differences”.  For settling their divorce, Jeff gave $35 billion settlement amount to his former wife, MacKenzie which made her the third richest woman in the world. The duo still shares a good connection and also takes care of their children together.
