PewDiePie is no stranger to the YouTube universe. His channel is the second most subscribed YouTube channels with 108M subscribers. So, anything he does, it is sure to make headlines.

After taking a break from YouTube for two weeks, PewDiePie (real name Felix Kjellberg) returned with a “huge announcement.”

The YouTuber posted a video on his channel with the title “I’m Back With A Huge Announcement!) on Saturday.

PewDiePie announced that he is doing a “reverse face reveal,” something’s that’s never been done before. To be specific, he wants to get rid of his self-facing camera and choose to hide behind an avatar.

PewDiePie jokingly said “I’ve realized that the only way for me to stay relevant at this point… it’s necessary for me to do this,” on his video.

He’s following the steps of fellow game streamers Corpse Husband and Dream who stream videos with no face cam. “Corpse Husband… no face cam, no face reveal, massively popular. Dream… no face cam, no face reveal, massively popular,” said Felix jokingly.

PewDiePie hasn’t yet chosen an avatar he would hide behind. However, he let his editor Sive choose a random image (the image above).

Now, only time can tell if he’s sticking with his decision or was it another one of his pranks he pulls on his followers.
