Before going any further to this topic, first let me give you brief regarding how meme actually started.
The word meme (pronounced “Meem,” not me-me), dates back to Richard Dawkins’ 1976 book, The Selfish Gene.
In the book, Dawkins referred it as a “Mimeme”- a word derived from Greek that means “that which is imitated.”
Later, the word became “meme” due to its similarity to the world “gene”.
Basically, Dawkins used the term in the book to determine whether there was a measurable unit describing how ideas spread and propagate through generations or not.
So, meme then became an idea what a genetic factor is to a physical attribute.
Dawkins believed that anything is capable of undergoing evolution just like genes and physical traits.
This is where the modern form of the word “meme” came from.

There are many times when you get surrounded by people who do not understand sarcasms jokes.
And when you make such jokes in front or at them, they feel offended.
But, that doesn’t exactly happen when you post it on social media until and unless you know your limit.
This gives freedom to the cheerful folks to express their word via social media.
But, if memes never existed, those happy folks would never be that happy and make others happy.
What about People’s Creativity?
Memes are funny images or texts mostly together that makes you genuinely smile on a lame, boring day.
They also need a lot of creativity, out of the box thinking and observational skills.
If memes never existed, where would these creative people go?
Would they get full-time job to show their creativity and make people laugh? Is there any job like that?
Honestly, their creativity would completely get lost, and their mind would actually get dull if they wouldn’t express their emotions.
What about Depressed People?
There are countless people around the world suffering from anxiety and depression.
Those people try to share their suffering and try to genuinely smile seeing those posts.
