Pete Buttigieg is breaking all the stereotypes. Not only is he the youngest candidate running for president but he is also openly gay. The 38-year-old ex-mayor of South Bend, Indiana says that he fell in love with Chasten through their mutual admiration for food. Both of them are very supportive of each other and many people admire them. They don’t hesitate to show their love for each other even on the campaign stage.

Not many of us might know but, Pete Buttigieg graduated from Harvard and Oxford University. He served for almost 9 years in the US Navy. While in the Navy, he was also deployed to Afghanistan to serve for 7 months. After coming back in 2014, he was awarded the Joint Service Commendation Medal. He decided to come out of the closet in 2015 and has been openly gay ever since.

Chasten Buttigieg started working as a high school teacher at Montessori Academy in Mishawaka, Indiana in 2017. Unlike Pete, Chasten had a more difficult time coming out. He came out to his parents at the age of 18.
After letting them know about his sexuality, he didn’t get a positive response. He said in an interview with the New York Times, “I don’t recall my parents specifically saying I couldn’t live at home anymore, but I was made to believe I needed to leave,”. Nonetheless, it all turned out for the better now that both of them are happy together.

When he was recently interviewed by the people’s magazine, Mayor Pete Buttigieg said that the next step in their relationship was kids. When asked during an interview on fathers day, Pete said, “I don’t see why not”.
It definitely would be another history if Pete and Chasten decide to have kids while they are at the white house if he wins this election. Pete also believes that Chasten would make a great dad and that he is also a great educator.

The Democratic candidate has been criticized on various grounds including the fact that he is too young. But mainly the opposition has targetted their marriage to be a problem.
