Habits that Makes you Age Faster

Gabourey Sidibe once said, “your body is your temple, it’s your home, and you must decorate it.”

What you do to yourself reflects on your body. Whether it’s mental stress that’s draining you. Or physical stress that’s hampering your health.

From things you eat to the habits, you take up affects your physical appearance one way or the other.

There are people as old as 50 or even more, yet, they look like they’re just in their early 20s.

And there are people who haven’t even reached 30 yet, but they look so much older.

Why do you think that is? Is it their genes working for or against them? Or is it some other factor that influences one’s aging?

The truth is it’s not just your gene that plays a role in aging. There are things we do, the foods we eat, and the habits we choose that influences how we age.

Here are some of the habits that are making you age faster.

You’re sitting a lot.

Why would anyone want to work outside in scorching heat when you could just sit in a chair and relax, right?

Well, if that’s what you think, you need to get your thoughts straight.

According to research conducted by Cambridge University in 2016, sitting at least eight hours a day increases the risk of premature death by up to 60%.

It is also connected to poor blood sugar regulation, slow blood circulation, and higher cholesterol levels.

Thus, aiding in aging.

But, what can one do when your job actually requires you to sit all day?

Well, the risk can be lower if you engage yourself in at least an hour’s worth of physical exercise.

Studies showed that it reduced the risk of dying early by nearly 40% compared to the ones who didn’t move at all.

You’re lacking a good sleep.

Sleep is the most important activity for all animals alike. There are so many things happening inside our body while we’re asleep.

From muscle recovery, hormone regulation, and memory development to maintaining a properly functioning metabolism. Good night sleep does it all.

But sleep deprivation is far more dangerous than you can think.

It not only makes you constantly weary but also increases the risk of other diseases.

Like depression, anxiety, weight gain, and insulin resistance. This leads to other things like high blood pressure, different heart disease, and type 2 diabetes.

And when your hormone isn’t regulated you start appearing older and age much faster.

So, tell your mom how important your beauty sleep is and matter of fact, tell her to go and sleep as well.

You cannot do without coffee.

Are you one of those people who is never seen without a coffee cup by your side.

From the moment you wake up to the time you close your eyes, is coffee your best friend?

Well, if it is so, you’re in big trouble, my friend.

Because if you’re dreaming of getting the perfect skin, consuming coffee all the time isn’t the best thing to do.

According to a review in Sleep Medicine Reviews, consuming caffeine after 3 pm can interfere with your sleep cycle. It intervenes the quality of sleep you get, the total amount of time and how long it takes for you to fall asleep.

This takes us back to the second point and the importance of sleep.

You’re always tanning.

Sure almost everyone would look good with a great tan. It’s always fun to see the sun shining and making the day brighter and better.

While absorbing the sun’s heat for a while provides us with the necessary vitamins, over-exposure might be very dangerous.

It causes skin wrinkling from the loss of collagen and elastin. Thus making us appear older than what we are.

But that’s not it. Sun damage can lead to the development of skin cancer like melanoma.

So, make sure you wear SPF before stepping outside in the sun.

All the unhealthy food habits.

As sad as it could be, the food we eat is actually making us age faster than we should.

Everyone knows the harm fired and greasy food brings to our health. But there are other foods that also aid to aging faster.

Eating too much sweet, white grains, processed, microwaveable, and charred food all adds up to damaging your skin health.

Not eating green and organic food, not bothering working out, and consuming too much alcohol are also the biggest culprits.

So, if you want beautiful and glowing skin, don’t just invest thousands in skincare and make-up. You should rather take care of your daily habits.
