There is recently coming news about the Melbourne research team which discovered how our body’s immune system fights coronavirus ‘COVID-19’. The researchers at the Peter Doherty Institute for Infection and Immunity have come up with researches about the responses of the virus on the human body. Carolien Emma van de Sandt is also a specialized member at the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at the Peter Doherty Institute for Infection and Immunity.
Matter of fact, Carolien also does research in Virology, Immunology and Infectious Diseases. She came to limelight about her Institute provided an understanding of how humans fight off the virus. How the researchers came to find the act of coronavirus on the human body? Does it have any vaccine?
Let’s find out in detail how we can get recovered from the COVID-19. Also, find in detail the life of Carolien Emma including her early life, career, family, and nature medicine. Until then, stay tuned with us.
Carolien Emma van de Sandt attracted the world towards her team after her Australian research team found something new from the COVID-19. The worldwide spreading pandemic, COVID-19 also has a cure. The Melbourne research team has not understood how the virus works on a human body. As soon as Carolien’s team researched the blood samples of one of Australian’s first patients diagnosed with coronavirus, they came to know the responses of the virus on the human body.
The research was made successful through the Peter Doherty Institute for Infection and Immunity, University of Melbourne. Carolien is in the team with fellow, Katherine Kedzierska, the head of the Human T cell Laboratory in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology. Carolien also specializes in the same field.
Katherine Kedzierska told the media about the possibility of fighting with COVID-19 through our immune system. They are on the way of preparing a vaccine for the worldwide pandemic. On this, Katherine told the news,
The immune cell populations we have seen emerging before patients recover are the same cells that we see in influenza. Because this is a new virus, we didn’t know how the body would respond. This information will allow us to evaluate any vaccine candidate as in an ideal world the vaccine should mimic our body’s immune response.
On this, Carolien van de Sandt said:
It’s the first paper that shows the body can give immunity and fight back and recover. We are very curious to see what happens in those patients and see what part of the immune response is not getting activated.

After filling the puzzle on how our body responds after the virus attacks, the team will surely come up with vaccines in the world market. Besides, their research papers have now been published in Nature Medicine which is reachable to the whole world.
As we mentioned earlier, Carolien Emma van de Sandt is currently serving the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at the Peter Doherty Institute for Infection and Immunity. She is a qualified researcher in immunity and the mechanisms of disease pathogenicity.
Furthermore, Carolien has also done research in Virology, Immunology and Infectious Diseases. She is currently working with her team in order to prevent the COVID-19. More than this, she has not revealed anything about her professional life.
Carolien Emma van de Sandt takes her career as her first priority. She prefers to keep her personal life away from the media.
