A New “Office” Fan Theory Suggests Who Is The Scranton Strangler
The Office/YouTube

It’s been seven years since we saw the very last of the US version of The Office. It had some amazing characters as well as multiple storylines that kept getting better with time. But one question every Office fan still has in mind is, “who is the Scranton Strangler?”

For years, multiple fan theories have surfaced that put several characters on the pedestal of being the infamous Scranton Strangler. From Creed and Toby, the easy suspects to Ryan and Dwight, everyone has at least once been accused of being the murderer. However, a new theory suggests a different character to be the one that goes around strangling strangers in Scranton. And it is none other than the CFO of Dunder Mifflin, David Wallace.

Who is the Scranton Strangler?

Scranton Strangler is a well-known yet mysterious criminal in Scranton. He is someone who’s strangled multiple people in the area. The show followed (in parts) the strangler’s story in multiple episodes as well as seasons throughout. Despite George Howard Skub being framed as the murderer, everyone believes that he is not guilty. And that there is someone else behind the face of the Scranton Strangler.

The rest of the world is somehow certain that Toby Flenderson, the boring HR is, in fact, the infamous Scranton Strangler. Come to think of it, every little clue points toward the Human Resource representative of Dunder Mifflin Paper Company’s Scranton Branch.

As a matter of fact, The Office’s official YouTube page even has a video that explains how Toby could be the perpetrator.

Another fan theory clearly suggests that Creed Bratton, one of the most absurd yet interesting Office characters could be the Scranton Strangler. Even though Creed is a regular character, we know very little of what his private life is. However, the amount of information we do have about him, makes everyone question his life decisions. Thus, Creed Bratton could be a perfect fit as the notorious serial killer.

Is David Wallace the Perpetrator?

However, a new theory shines a light on who could actually be the notorious Scranton Strangler. And it is none other than one of the most beloved Office characters, David Wallace.

David, played by Andy Buckley was the CFO of Dunder Mifflin. And while he was a lovable character, he could’ve been lying to us all along.

The theory surfaced online after a Tweet dating back to February 2020.

And surprisingly Andy responded to the tweet saying “Perhaps you’re correct.”

I know as an Office fan myself, this is a lot to take. And given David Wallace’s character development in the show, it is very well possible that he could be the Scranton Strangler. However, we’ll never know the truth unless the showrunners would clear it out themselves. Until then, let the blame game continue.
