Netflix is an American streaming service and a production company. Over the last few years, it has taken over the world with over 208 million paid users. Netflix doesn’t just have some of the best original films and series but also some amazing documentaries.

It has a lot of content available on its platform. From movies to anime of various genres can be streamed from the service. It is also notorious for its well-produced documentaries as well.

Documentaries are non-fictional stories that revolve around actual incidents around the world. They feature genuine people related to the story and snippets of the adventures filmed there as well.

Sometimes, for a better knowledge, documentaries show fictionalized scenes that relate to the actual story. Therefore, documentaries teach many things—science, technology, politics, and true crime.

The Social Dilemma

Released in 2020, The Social Dilemma is an American docu-drama. The show revolves around social media and the effects it has on people. Many experts from platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube, among others, provide their thoughts on social media’s negative effects.

The Social Dilemma reveals how social media creates addiction and spreads misinformation. It also shows how the algorithms are increasing the dependence and manipulating the users. The docu-drama also examines the mental health of people because of social media. 

The Keepers

The Keepers are a docu-series that investigates the murder of Catherine Cesnik. Cesnik was a nun who taught drama and English at the Archbishop Keough High School, an all-girls school in Baltimore. In 1969, Cesnik was found murdered, and the case is unsolved to date. 

The seven-episode Netflix docu-series features many of the nun’s students who believed that her murder was a cover-up. Allegedly, Cesnik found out that a priest at school, Joseph Maskell, was sexually abusing students. Because of this, she was dead and was well-hidden from the public.

Amanda Knox

Amanda Knox revolves around the trial of a girl named Amanda Knox and the murder of Meredith Kercher. The trial is one of the most famous cases in Italy. In 2007, Knox and her ex-boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito, two were guilty of the murder of Kercher. They convicted twice Knox for the murder. However, later she got freed. 

The critically acclaimed documentary on Netflix, is Knox trying to clear her name. She talks about being falsely accused and what it felt like to be labeled a monster. Amanda Knox also features interviews from Sollecito, reporter of Daily Mail Nick Pisa, and Prosecutor Giuliano Mignini.

Wild Wild Country 

Wild Wild Country follows the cult of Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh, also known as Osho, and his followers. The docu-series also revolves around Osho’s assistant Ma Anand Sheela. It explores Osho’s effects, especially in Wasco County, Oregon, where their followers lived in a community called Rajneeshpuram. 

Osho was a cult leader, and Rajneeshpuram was his utopia. However, things were not as they seem — a small fight eventually led to a nationwide scandal.
